"Still Standing"

They dragged Stephen outside the city walls. They picked up stones. They did everything in their power to silence his witness and bury the Word. But heaven opened.

This Sunday, we open Acts 7 and stand at the first martyrdom of the Christian church and discover that what looks like defeat in the hands of the faithful is never the final word.  And the very persecution that meant to end the church became the fire that spread it across the world.

This word shows us that what they meant to bury, the Spirit is using to build.
