"Called To Be More"

Nicodemus comes to Jesus at night -- curious, cautious, and carrying sincere questions. He is already a leader, already faithful, already respected. And yet Jesus tells him something unsettling: “No one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” In other words, what you have been is not all you are called to be.
On this Second Sunday in Lent, we will reflect on what it means to be Called to Be More. Lent invites us into honest self-examination to stretch us. Like Nicodemus, we may be accomplished, competent, and committed. Yet Jesus calls us beyond spiritual familiarity into transformation, to go higher, deeper, wider and consider: How is the Spirit calling us, individually and as a church to grow in faith?
